Objectivism believes that morals are objective (hence the name) and are based on how much a given action improves the life of the person doing it. Those who exist on the backs of others or rob others of their work are morally reprehensible and are parasites who survive by the methods of animals, not by man. This necessarily needs [[Libertarianball|free market]] [[Minarchismball|Minarchism]] (as Rand stated the role of the state is to protect the peoples rights, nothing else) to be in place for society to function along these morals.

She further elaborated on them in her periodicals The Objectivist Newsletter, The Objectivist, and The Ayn Rand Letter, and in non-fiction books such as Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology and The Virtue of Selfishness.


She sees egoism as a virtue and altruism enforced through authority as naive and incompetent, though slightly confused on what the term actually means.
The name "Objectivism" derives from the idea that human knowledge and values are objective: they exist and are determined by the nature of reality, to be discovered by one's mind, and are not created by the thoughts one has. Rand stated that she chose the name because her preferred term for a philosophy based on the primacy of existence—"existentialism"—had already been taken.

Objectivism also known as Randism or Randianism is a philosophy of author and philosopher Ayn Rand. On political matters, objectivists favour free market capitalism and the opposition to statism.

History
