Republic of Resdaynia

The Republic of Resdaynia was formed in the province of Morrowind after a century of humiliation at the hands of Argonian and Nordic invaders. With the Great Houses officially abolished during the revolution of 7E 102, civil war and strife ravaged the Dunmer. Many factions emerged in this chaotic period, but it was the Dunmeri National Front, holding onto Redoran warrior culture and Indoril piety, that would go on to finally push the Argonians from Mournhold and the Nords behind the Veloth Mountains. Today, Resdaynia has recovered and claimed her spot among the great powers. The nation's military strength is primarily in her magical forces, in contrast to Skyrim and Argonia's almost purely conventional armed forces. Despite historical animosity due to the Empire's legacy, Resdaynia's strongest ally is no doubt Nibenay, sharing the same enemies. The parliament of Resdaynia is known as the National Council; the National Republican Party rules in effectively a one-party state, with several minor parties, many of which are continuations of the old Great Houses.

Nibenese Social Republic

The Nibenese Social Republic came to be 12 years ago, when Gaius Sejanus led the March on Cyrod-City, wrestling the White-Gold Tower away from the hands of royalty at last. Establishing a new nationalist, militarist and totalitarian Nibenay, Sejanus proclaims himself as Dictator, serving as strongman and a rallying symbol for the Nibenese nation itself. With the last years of the Duchy of Nibenay seeing large swathes of territory lost to Argonia and Skyrim, the NSR has ambitions of revanche, in addition to maintaining disputes with Colovia over the Great Forest region. Nibenay has also established positive relations with both Morrowind and the states of Elsweyr. The Nibenese navy is sizable, sitting at the heart of the continent and controlling much of the Niben Bay, but the loss of the port of Leyawiin struck a huge blow to Nibenese naval capabilities. In the place of the Elder Council, a bicameral system was established, with the Grand Council of Nibenese Interests as the upper house directly appointed by the Dictator, and the National Chamber of Guilds serving as the lower house, with representatives elected by their fellow guild members in a corporatist system.

United Kingdoms of High Rock

The United Kingdoms of High Rock stand as Daggerfall, Wayrest, Camlorn and Northpoint. Largely a neutral nation, High Rock is a prosperous and major power in Northwestern Tamriel. In the early 7th Era, the four Breton kingdoms signed the Glenumbria Act, politically uniting High Rock for the first time in centuries. Not too long after, High Rock's Mercester System came to be, with each Kingdom its own First Minister, and the position of Prime Minister becoming the head of Breton government. The Kings and the High King are for the most part, ceremonial roles, though the Breton traditions of aristocracy and noble titles remain strong. In contrast to the land-focused warrior cultures of its Redguard and Orcish neighbours, High Rock prides itself on its naval prowess and battlemages.

Kingdom of Orsinium

The 6th Kingdom of Orsinium inhabits the Wrothgarian Mountains in what was formerly Eastern High Rock. It stands as the homeland of the Orcish people, maintaining a formidable standing army and a staunch isolationist foreign policy. Decades behind in equipment, much of the Orcish army still relies on melee beserkers, which has put the Orcs in an incredibly vulnerable position in their proximity to the advanced nations of High Rock and Hammerfell. Territorial disputes with the similarly technologically backwards Reachmen have seen many border conflicts throughout the last century. Religious schisms regarding Trinimac and Malacath worship have torn Orsinium in recent years, particularly the rural regions tending to prefer Malacath while the cities, especially Orsinium itself seeking to re-establish Trinimac worship. Officially, the dominant ruling Gortwog Party endorses Trinimac worship.

People's Republic of the Reach

The People's Republic of the Reach was established in 7E 129 after the self-described People's War of National Liberation against the Nords. It stands as a vulnerable and developing nation entrenched in the rocky Druadach Mountains. A 'cultural revolution' against the perceived backwards Daedra-worshipping ways of the Reachmen is underway at the hand of the ruling Reachmen Communist Party. As druidic practices were made strictly illegal, the RCP remains split between moving towards the pantheon of the Eight Divines and abandoning religiosity in totality. The Party identifies its ideology strongly with Dunmer revolutionary Mazireth Drethendas, leader of the Communists during Morrowind's civil war, despite this the PR holds favourable relations with the Republic of Resdayn as well as the National Syndicalists of Nibenay due to their common history of warring with Skyrim.

Socialist Industrial Republic of Colovia

The Socialist Industrial Republic of Colovia emerged from the violent civil war that tore Cyrodiil in half in the 90s. Born from Umbranoxist thought, the Communist Party of Colovia believes the path to communism is pathed with the principles of Socialist Industrial Unionism, theorised by it's founder, Treblanius Kustav. The Colovian Industrial Congress serves as the primary governing body, encompassing all industrial unions in the nation. Colovia in recent years has had a major focus on magical and technological advancement and mass industrialisation, particularly to meet its primary rival Nibenay. Julianos for all intents and purposes is the patron deity of the Colovian state, with his Temple in Chorrol serving as Colovia's answer to the Arcane University. Colovia has no allies, though out of spite it has established mildly positive relations with Skyrim to anger the Reachmen, who they view as having a heavily perverted view of communism.

Nordic Confederacy

The Nordic Confederacy lies in the frozen wastes of Skyrim, formed after a violent civil war forseeing the abolition of the monarchy in 7E 45. The Confederacy consists of the 9 holds of Solitude, Falkreath, Dawnster, Whiterun, Morthal, Winterhold, Windhelm, Riften and Bruma, each governed by their own popularly elected Chancellor, who then assemble at the Federal Moot every five years to elect a High Chancellor. Skyrim stands as perhaps the strongest power of Northern Tamriel, highly industrialised and with intimidating military capabilties, particularly in the use of the Thu'um shock troops. Skyrim's warrior culture has brought it to war in recent times with nearly all of its neighbours, Morrowind, Nibenay and the Reach. The only real ally of the Nords are their racial brethren in the Skaal State, whom they have defended and funded in their struggle against annexation by the Dark Elves.

Skaal State

The Skaal State occupies the northern half of the island of Solstheim. Formerly one of the continent's most primitive nations, the Skaal today with strong aid from the Nords on the continent have advanced greatly. The Skaal Village would go on to be the foundations for the city of Skalhelm, rivalling Raven Rock as Solstheim's most populous settlement, and the Skaal have settled the rest of Northern Solstheim. The Skaal have not just taken technological influence but also great cultural and religious influence from the Nords, worship of the All-Maker fading away for worship of the warrior gods of Shor and Ysmir, important to the new Skaal in their constant struggles against the Dunmer, who view Solstheim as core territory to Morrowind. While initially modelling their politics after the Skyrim system, a racial supremacist and hypermilitarist faction has reformed the Skaal into a rigid and warlike nation, seeking nothing less than the political unification of Solstheim. Despite ideological differences, and even the Skaal State's support of racialist factions within mainland Skyrim, the Nords continue to support the Skaal in mutual animosity towards Morrowind.

State of Greater Argonia

The State of Greater Argonia occupies the whole of Southeastern Tamriel, and may be the most powerful force on the continent. Fortified by the inhospitable jungles of Black Marsh, the nation is practically unconquerable, and has expanded beyond the borders of traditional Argonian territory into the Blackwood region of Nibenay. Argonia is governed by the elusive clique of the An-Xileel, with their ruling council known as The Organism, headed by the Archwarden. Argonia remains almost entirely unindustrialised, the conquest of southeastern Cyrodiil being for the purposes of turning it into Argonia's industrial heartland. Though perhaps not as technologically advanced as its northern neighbours, Argonia is still believed to have the largest standing army in all of Tamriel, which has proven resilient in defending the nation against all of its neighbours. The An-Xileel refuse to engage in any positive diplomacy beyond their borders.

Great Socialist Redguard People's Yokedate

The Great Socialist Redguard People's Yokedate, more commonly known as Hammerfell is an oil-rich power in western Tamriel. Ravaged by decades of civil conflict and foreign domination of its markets, Redguard general Kharemur Stafylar arose to reunite Hammerfell and nationalise its industries, particularly its oil industry from which Altmeri and Breton companies had been leeching off of. Implementing what he called Redguard Socialism, claiming it as Hammerfell's third path between Breton liberalism and Colovian umbranoxism, Stafylar established a unique political system based around principles of direct democracy. Municipalities are governed by, 'people's congresses' which themselves refer to greater regional congresses, who then compose the National Redguard People's Congress, the national legislature of Hammerfell. The Redguard economy rotates around oil, being the nation's biggest export and being responsible for much of Hammerfell's propserity. Relations with High Rock and Alinor are very tense, but Hammerfell for the most part remains on alright terms with the rest of the continent. The Redguards maintain the strongest conventional army in Western Tamriel, have a sizable navy, but are greatly lacking in terms of magical capability.

Kingdom of Valenwood

The Kingdom of Valenwood is a largely agrarian and underdeveloped nation in the southwest of Tamriel. Adhering strongly to the Green Pact, industrialisation has occured next to nowhere across the province, putting it nearly centuries behind other powers of Tamriel. The country functions under a constitutional and parliamentary monarchy, with most power concentrated in the Prime Minister. Valenwood's politics are dominated by agrarian, conservative and socialist parties. What Valenwood lacks in its technological capability it almost makes up for in sheer numbers and its mostly magical armed forces. Historically Valenwood has warred with the Khajiit over border disputes, and to this day animosity between the two races remains strong, and the current Bosmer government secretly fears it may not be able to stop a Khajiit invasion.

Republic of Alinor

The Republic of Alinor is an island nation in the southwest of Tamriel. The High Elves abolished their monarchy at the beginning of the 7th Era, however their modern government remains highly aristocratic and conservative. The two main political factions of Altmeri politics are the Lindaes and the Mires, the former the party of many aristocrats, mages, priests, and some monarchists, while the latter is the party of craftsmen, merchants and abolitionists. The practice of goblin slavery remains commonplace across the country, and in recent years has become a highly controversial topic, with the Radicals' platform being entirely about abolition, while most mainstream Mires are hesitant to support total abolition. Alinor is a decently industrialised nation, and while behind in its military equipment, it has the best battlemages and navy in all of Tamriel.

Ideologies

Umbranoxism

Umbranoxism is a revolutionary ideology and political philosophy seeking to establish a communist society and based on the analysis of world history through a lens of class warfare, first theorised by Caelius Umbranox in the 7E 60s. Religiously, Umbranoxists tend to be fervent worshippers of the God of Time, universally recognising him as Akatosh, adhering to the Cyrodiilic pantheon due to the ideology's Colovian roots and universalist nature.

Drethendism

Drethendism is an ideology claiming to be an authentic strand of Umbranoxism, focusing explicitly on anti-imperialism and national liberation. It was formulated by Mazireth Drethendas, a Dunmeri revolutoinary during that nation's civil war period in which it was threatened by all of its neighbours and by internal strife. While Drethendas lost the Resdayn Civil War and was hence executed, his beliefs continued on eventually taking hold in the Reach, in which it has been criticised for its collaboration with the national bourgeoisie in the name of anti-imperialism. Compared to other Umbranoxists, Drethendists tend to be more neutral on religious matters.

Notable Examples

  • People's Republic of the Reach
  • Drethendist Movement
  • Altmeri Workers Party - Drethendist

Kustavism

Kustavism is a strand of Umbranoxism based on the principles of Socialist Industrial Unionism, envisioned by Treblanius Kustav, founder of the Socialist Industrial Republic of Colovia. Kustavists religiously are strong adherents to the Cyrodiilic pantheon, and particularly revere Julianos, viewing him as an important god of magical and technological development, neccessary to the revolution.

Notable Examples

  • Socialist Industrial Republic of Colovia

National Syndicalism

National Syndicalism emerged in both Cyrodiil and High Rock from alliances between integral nationalists and revolutionary syndicalists. Many National Syndicalists had hardcore traditionalist leanings; but some, particularly Macileans, embraced a modernist form of national syndicalism rejecting traditionalism, monarchism, aristocracy in favour of a truly revolutionary ideology.
Alignments

Notable Examples

  • Union of Breton National Syndicalists
  • National Syndicalist Party of Valenwood

Macilean National Syndicalism

Macilean National Syndicalism emerged largely from the influence of Maximillien Macile, and rejected the traditionalist leanings of many National Syndicalists in favour of modernism. Macileans also tend to reject the class collaboration of traditional National Syndicalists in favour of class warfare, along with embracing ethnic nationalism and socialism. Macilean National Syndicalism does not have a particular religious bias; and movements for it have propped up in various nations across Tamriel, though its strongest hold is in Cyrodiil in which the Nibenese Social Republic stands.

Notable Examples

  • Nibenese Social Republic
  • Colovian Republican Syndicalist Party
  • Nordic Syndicalist People's Party

Nedic Syndicalism

Nedic Syndicalism originated from forms of non-Umbranoxist socialism, as well as the Nordicist movement of the early 7th era, which sought a re-establishment of the ancient continent-spanning Nordic Empire. Nedic Syndicalism shares many similarities with Macilean National Syndicalism, however embracing a much more racialist and Human, especially Nordic-centric form of nationalism. It considers only pure Nedes and descendents of Atmora to be part of the nation, and for this reason it remains largely exclusive to Bretons due to their Elven admixture, as well as Redguards for being of Yokudan descent. Nedic Syndicalists especially emphasise the purity of the Nords as being untainted culturally, unlike the Cyrodiils with their Elven-inspired pantheon. However, Nedic Syndicalists accept especially Colovians as part of their ideal pan-Nedic state. The reclamation of the Reach as well as Solstheim are also important to Nedic Syndicalists and many also propose for the colonisation of Morrowind and High Rock to make way for living space for the Nordic race.
