English Socialism, most known by its abbreviation IngSoc and alternatively Orwellianism, is a doubleplustotalitarian ideology based on George Orwell's classic novel 1984, inhabiting an AuthCenter area outside the Political Compass. IngSoc has instructed the author to remind you that War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, and Ignorance is Strength. Big Brother is watching you. He is most often described as "the apex of totalitarianism.", in which the state has complete control over the individual.

History

English novelist George Orwell wrote fiction that heavily criticized totalitarianism. A democratic socialist, he feared that Socialist movements in the United Kingdom would ultimately turn into a totalitarian society governed entirely by a single party and ideology. He published Nineteen Eighty-Four in 1949 and created the English Socialist Party, or Ingsoc, as an example of this, showing the consequences of unhinged government surveillance, endless war, and propaganda.

Personality

IngSoc is a malevolent and power-hungry individual seeking to exert his will across everything in existence. IngSoc generally acts without showing much emotion and has a cold and clinical manner of speaking. The only exceptions are when he is talking about Big Brother, in which case he will be somewhat enthusiastic.

Like in 1984, IngSoc will constantly rewrite facts, even doing so mid-sentence at times. In many cases, IngSoc genuinely believes in the lies and contradictions he himself makes up, a consequence of Doublethink (see Further Reading for more information).

IngSoc has no tolerance for dissent in others. Should any character contradict him or slight him in any way, IngSoc will 'vapourize' the offender and they will become unpersoned. Commenting on the disappearance of said individual/s will also result in being unpersoned.

Alternatively, IngSocball could represent authoritarianism or totalitarianism in general, as his name was just "authoritarianism" in the previous polcompballpedia.

Stylistic notes

  • IngSoc always has one eye and is the only Polcompball to have a pupil
  • IngSoc should talk preferably in Newspeak
  • IngSoc often takes a Big Brother-esqe role in comics, but is by no means limited to it.
  • The red V-shape must reach the outline at all three vertices.
  • Using 1984 references is encouraged.

How to draw

Drawing IngSoc is really simple:

  1. Draw a ball outline with black (#000000)
  2. Fill ball in with a lighter shade of black (#141412).
  3. Draw a large V-shape with a darkish red (#e00000) and fill it in.
  4. Draw one football-shaped eye, add a pupil, and you're done!Template:Flag-color

Relations

The Inner Party

  • Trilluminati - I created him to ensure that the conditions necessary for me to exist are always met.
  • Fordism - Fellow dystopian ideology.
  • Neo-Bolshevism - Eurasia has always been our ally, we have always been at war with Eastasia
  • Death Worship - Eastasia has always been our ally, we have always been at war with Eurasia

The Outer Party

  • National Socialism - showed me that fear is the best way to seize doubleplustotalitarian control. He could be more totalitarian, however.
  • Marxism-Leninism - showed me how a socialist revolution is the best way to seize doubleplustotalitarian control. His Stalinist period (1922-1953) is somewhat close to how I operate, but even that is far removed from the doubleplustotalitarian state that I am. Beliving that he closely related to me is Thoughtcrime.
