Paleoconservatismball, shortened to PaleoCon,is a political philosophy and variety of conservatism started in the United States stressing Christian ethics, nationalism, paternalism, regionalism and traditionalism. Economically, although paleoconservatismball support market capitalism, they are fierce opponents of global free trade and advocate for economic nationalism. Paleoconservatismball opposes the interventionist foreign policies advocated for by neoconservatives.

Paleoconservatismball's concerns overlap with those of the Old Right that opposed the New Deal in the 1930s and 1940s as well as with paleolibertarianism.

Historical Examples

Notable paleoconservatives include Pat Buchanan, Paul Gottfried, and Mel Bradford. Despite many misconceptions, Ronald Reagan was not a paleoconservative.
