Economically, although paleoconservatives support free market capitalism, they are fierce opponents of global free trade and advocate for economic nationalism. Paleoconservatives oppose the interventionist foreign policies advocated for by neoconservatives.
Paleoconservatism's concerns overlap with those of the Old Right that opposed the New Deal in the 1930s and 1940s as well as with paleolibertarianism.
One of the most notable people who followed this ideology was Pat Buchanan. it is also important to note that despite many misconceptions Ronald Reagan was not a Paleoconservative.
