The 12th ZZ Division "Wołyń," commonly referred to as the Wołyń Division, holds prominence for its pivotal role in defending Ziółkowskigród during the Ukrainian Liberation Army (ULA) offensive. Despite encountering numerous encirclements, some enduring for years, the division effectively safeguarded the town against capture by the ULA.
Following the resolution of the Eastern Crisis, the division was stationed in Ziółkowskigród. Subsequently, it participated in the implementation of the Treaty of Population Transfer and Resettlement in the Galicia and Volhynia Regions.
