Aside from aesthetics and connections to the dark side of the force, was the Empire really that fascist? Through the original trilogy, Rogue One, Solo and Andor we can see that the Empire didn't really push any sort of united Galactic national identity or racial superiority over any race or other nation. It is very true that it was authoritarian and state capitalist (in Solo we see how bureaucratic the job aqquirement process is), but it wasn't necessarily fascist by definition.
