The Treaty of Chicago stands as a historic agreement signed between the governments of Greater Illinois and Poland, following the Kultokratic visit to the city of Chicago. The treaty marks a significant turning point in the relationship between the two nations, ushering in a period of diplomatic rapprochement and mutual understanding. Notably, the treaty paved the way for a policy of cohabitation between Greater Illinois and the Polish Social Nationalist Republic, allowing for the continuation of dialogue between the two sides regarding the ongoing Eastern Crisis. As a direct result of the treaty, Greater Illinois withdrew its support from the Federal Republic of Eastern Poland and Lithuania, effectively weakening FRWPIL's military position.

Background
The foreign policies of both Greater Illinois and Poland gradually shifted towards more pragmatic and moderate approaches, as the arms race, antagonism, and conflicts between the two nations became increasingly economically and time costly.
Poland initially attempted to offset the strain of these conflicts by proposing the creation of an alternate canal out of the Baltics to the New Warsaw Pact, though this project was expected to take years to come to fruition. As desperation grew, Poland moved closer diplomatically to Indonesia, and committed more to anti-terrorism actions in the Tarnopol Voivodeship, leading to an increase in ZZ influence.
Greater Illinois became increasingly concerned with instability in Thailand and the goals of Indonesia, leading to a disinterest in anti-Polish activities. Greater Illinois also became aware that Poland was reaching out to a wide range of states around the globe to make anti-Greater Illinois defensive, economic, and political pacts.
In response, the AI responsible for advising Greater Illinois foreign policy suggested beginning détente talks with Poland, after Poland called for the FRWPIL to engage in peace talks at the AltUN assembly. These talks culminated in the historic Kultokratic visit to Chicago (the first of its kind to any country in the New World) and the signing of the Treaty of Chicago.
Negotiations
The talks between the two previously adversarial nations proceeded with remarkable ease, and the Greater Illinois leadership accepted the first draft of the treaty submitted by the Polish side with only a single addition to Article 2.8. Poland was amenable to this addition, as they had no intentions of allowing any unjust violence to be inflicted upon the local population of Ukraine anyways.
