{{Comment|{{UserNyteulo}}|Despite his faults, China before Mao was far worse then anything experienced during the CPC’s rule. China was notorious for famines long before Mao, and it’s irrational to blame any peasant who died in China on him. China was an economically and materially backwards country for centuries, Mao had little to work with. That being said, several of Mao’s strategies proved to be failures and the leadership of the party had many alternatives. Mao’s greatest achievements where those of uniting the people, of the revolution and pf the defeating of the ROC, however once he was not a master economic planner, and some of the blame is to be attributed to him, but not “70,000,000” as conservatives will tell you. After Deng Xiaoping took leadership, he claimed Mao’s policies resulted in no more 15 million, in an attempt to attack the Maoist crevices of the party. In summary, I would rate Maoism (at least this version) with a 6/10.}} |

ChineseSocialist: Judging by the material conditions of China of his time, having a strong hand to build up his country is necessary and in his early days, he was a great man, but after the GLF and the Cultural Revolution, what can one say, really?
^ my take on it as well though totalitarianism is a bit much even for such situations
