Folcalonism asserts that a centralized structure for the state leads only to polarization, the decay of local culture, and elitism. Thus, it is necessary to the goals of Folcalonism that the state be a decentralized confederation, with minimal power given to the federal government, and the majority of power being delegated to local community subdivisions, called wards. Folcalonism believes that the wards that make up the federal government have a right to govern themselves as they see fit, so long as they respect civil liberties, uphold the system of local democracy, allow (but not necessarily mandate) workers’ self management, and respect the guild system.

Folcalonism believes that the federal government must only perform the most essential of functions such as coordinating and maintaining a national militia, conducting limited diplomacy with foreign countries, regulating immigration, maintaining a federal court system, and taking care of inter-ward infrastructure.

Folcalonism opposes monarchy on the grounds that it elevates one member of the nation above the rest based solely on birthright instead of strength or public approval, which the ideology sees as an attitude from the artificial aristocracy. It also, being a strongly Christianity ideology, believes that there can be no “king” above Christ, and a temporal monarchy would inevitably elevate an individual to godlike status.

The Protector and His Honorable Council
Folcalonism believes that the executive branch should be headed by a Protector, who is elected by members of a hypothetical national militia. The Protector would handle the enforcement of federal law and would be the chief organizer of the national militia during national crises and wars. These duties would be clearly defined and strictly adhered to in the country’s constitution. The Protector would also appoint an advisory council to aid them with issues outside their expertise, and would act somewhat like a replacement to a representative legislature. The Protector would be held to standards by the combined legal force of the judiciary and the physical force of the militia, to prevent violations of the constitution.

The Judiciary
Folcalonism holds that most disputes between individuals not regarding established law should be handled personally. If the two cannot come to an agreement, they should be permitted to duel, so as to prevent bringing in the government to their disputes. If they do not desire this, they can also appoint a mediator from their community. Aside from this, Folcalonism believes that criminal cases should be handled similarly to how they are now in the US, that is by a court with a judge and a jury of the defendant’s peers. However, most of these courts would be organized by the wards instead of by some more central government force. Local court decisions would be enforced jointly by a local sheriff's department and the militia. There would also be constitutional courts which would uphold the constitution and prevent power abuses by leaders.

Folcalonism is the ideology of Pollere. He takes influence from people like Bill Kauffman, Calvin Coolidge, James A. Traficant Jr., and Thomas Jefferson, among others. He is quite anti-government, but still recognizes the “futility of total state-abolition,” in his own words. He is also very traditionalist and religious, believing in Christianity. He supports a staunchly populist economic system based heavily on Distributism and Economic Nationalism.

Five Goals of Folcalonism

 • To limit the federal government's power to its constitutional functions
 • To return society to a more organic and authentic way of life
 • To cast the chains of elitism and oligarchy off of the people
 • To preserve regional cultures and nations and save them from eradication by social engineering and foreign encroachment
 • To defend the nation’s sovereignty from the forces of globalism

Government Structure

Confederalism

Folcalonism asserts that a centralized structure for the state leads only to polarization, the decay of local culture, and elitism. Thus, it is necessary to the goals of Folcalonism that the state be a decentralized confederation, with minimal power given to the federal government, and the majority of power being delegated to the states.
