French Fascism is a totalitarian, culturally far right and nationalist that uses the ideas of Fascism with French characteristics. French Fascism is usually anti-Semitic, anti-capitalist, and anti-communist.

The French Popular Party

The FPP was considered before and during WW2, the most collaborationist party in France. It has a French Fascist Corporatist, Anti-Semitic, Anti-Masonry, and Anti-Communist Rhetoric. The FPP was led by Jacques Doriot.

Pre-WW2

In 1936, Doriot and some former members of the Communist party moved towards nationalism and were turning against Marxism when they adopted a conspiracy theory that Judeo-Socialism wasn't making the situation better for the working class which led to the creation of the FPP.

In the coming years, the FPP was gaining support and funding from Italian fascists, French banks and businesses and soon, Nazi Germany. They were also known to purchase a number of news outlets.

WW2

The FPP was gaining more support from Germany after the battle of France. During the occupation. They during at that time, increased its activities. However, they criticized the state led by Petain for being too soft and moderate.

The FPP at its core was Anti-Semitic. Joseph Darnand, the leader of the French paramilitary organization, led the rounding up to the concentration camps/torture/assassinations of Jews and political enemies to the Nazis. The FPP mid-war was more contributing to the war effort led by the European axis powers.

The FFP eventually died out when Doriot was killed by Allied Strafes in 2/22/1945.

History

In 1940, at the beginning of WW2, France was invaded by Nazi Germany, and the Nazis overpowered the French and took over the country. And the third republic was eventually destroyed when Marshal Phillipe Petian signed an armistice.

After the the short struggle in France, Petian established an authoritarian government that strongly regulated the economy and abolished many liberal policies. For the media, it was also tightly controlled to promote Anti-Semitic and Anti-Communist views.

Vichy France was mainly a puppet state, the country was not in full control. During those times, French opinion on the Nazi German regime was positive initially. But then the opinions were slowly turning negative when Germany was starting to lose the war and conditions in France were worsening. A resistance movement was led by Charles de Gaulle outside the country which had been gaining ground over time.

Eventually during the invasion of Normandy and liberation of France. A new government called "The Free French Provisional Government of the French Republic" was installed by de Gaulle. And the Vichy government ceased to exist.

Post-WW2, The Front National led by Jean-Marie Le Pen (now renamed to The National Rally) was largely seen as a neo-fascist party. Not helped by the fact that many Third-Position groups that had ties to the party or that Le Pen himself has alluded to denying the holocaust multiple times. Recently in the 2010s. Ever since Le Pen's daughter Marine Le Pen took over as leader, the FN has been trying to rebrand itself to look more presentable. While still keeping it's highly nationalistic views on immigration and Islam, with Marine even going so far to kick her own father out of the party.
