Battles
Battle of Keerstrum
A typical example of one of the two kinds of Battles that were usually fought, namely an urban battle in a city or town, this engagement between Zeismarkian Separatists and Monarchist Troops was fought at the very start of the Civil War, and serves as an excellent example of the kind of tactical differences that would lead the Monarchy to eventually lose the conflict.

Timeline
- 14.06.1560
- ZSG and RRA Troops, ordered to quell Rebellion in Zeismark, entered Keerstrum, a city on the Southeastern Border of Zeismark. The Monarchist Command expected little pushback, but what they did not know was that the Zeismarkian Underground, long prepared for a civil war[1], had already infiltrated many cities in the state, Keerstrum being especially important to the ZSU due to its strategic position at the border. The first troops to enter the city were of the ZSG, with RRA troops staying at the back of the army, mostly to guard the supply lines, though some were positioned as artillery support, just for the chance of a bigger battle. The ZSU, with its headquarters in the Church of K'kuth, put their plan to lure the Monarchist forces into a trap in the middle of the city into action. The first day of the battle would see no organized fighting, only some irregular engagements between independent actors and the Monarchist troops. While this was going on, the WRRA, who had signed an agreement with the ZSU, had sent a small artillery force to take up position in the "Von Lerfe" metal smelting factory, an industrial complex to the west of the city, and a cell of the Cult of Lthyr had taken up positions in the Geijneld district of the city.
- 15.06.1560
- The Monarchist Commanders decided to split their combined forces into two groups: Group A would advance along the city wall, and Group B would march further into the city. The ZSU, meanwhile, enacted their plan, sending their troops along the outer streets of Keerstrum, where their scouts encountered their ZSG counterparts, leading to the first skirmish of the battle, when a ZSU scout team decided to attack a ZSG unit to prevent them from reporting their findings. This skirmish was a victory for the ZSU, as they wiped out the entire unit, but it also began the brutal fighting that would dominate the next few days. In the west, the Cultists retreated to the northern city wall of the Geijneld district, to avoid early engagaments with the advancing ZSG, while a scout troop of the moved towards their position, eager to get information from the Cultists.
- 16.06.1560
- On the third day, the battle really began. The ZSG engaged the ZSU in the east, fighting in brutal House-to-House combat, when the Separatists' command ordered a few troops to relieve their scouts, who were attacked by the ZSG in the streets. They were aided by independent Rebels, who attacked the Monarchist troops from their houses. This, of course, lead to retaliations against the civilian population, especially RRA troops massacring innocent civilians and Rebels alike in the sectors they controlled. In the west, the Monarchist forces advancing along the city wall were engaged by a combined Cultist-ZSU fighting troop, while their vanguard was being cornered at the river Feerk, which they had crossed in the night, by the Cultist soldiers, taking heavy losses. The RRA artillery troops stationed outside the city walls, began firing, hitting ZSU soldiers, Cultists, Irregulars and even their allies. As a ZSG troop split from the Eastern front to encircle the ZSU in the Southwest, but were almost immediately engaged by irregulars and the ZSU rear guard, being overwhelmed by their enemies, leading to many soldiers falling, and the rest having to retreat over the night.
- 17.06.1560
- Strategies on both sides changed on the fourth day. The RRA and ZSG joined command, now discovering the true strenght of their enemies, ordered the troops to organize into a simple long front, stretching from the Eastern city wall at the Zeveern district to the Southwestern wall at the River, where they were still fighting the Cultists. The ZSU command, having noticed Monarchist troops advancing along the Outer districts of the city, likewise halted their envelopment plans and ordered their troops to form a broad front, taking all of northern Keerstrum under their official control, and subsuming many irregulars into their own ranks. The main combat of the 17. took place along the main street of Keerstrum, where neither army had actually gained ground. Both groups sent their soldiers into unclaimed territory, resulting in chaotic house-to-house combat, in which much time, ammunition, grenades, magical capacity and Special Weapons were wasted on attempts to "clear" empty apartments. It saw relatively little casualties. The WRRA, meanwhile, decided to set up an artillery battery near Geijneld, from which they started to pummel the Western front of the Monarchists. This frustrated the ZSGs Command, who could not figure out who was shooting at them.
