The Dictatorship of the Volk (from German Volk; "people, race, folk") is a concept in Volkssozialismus largely taken from and inspired by the Marxist perception of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, only instead applied to race or 'folk' instead of class.
The doctrine, in short- can be explained as such:
- The state, when under control of the Folk and thus directly correlating to the Volksgemeinschaft, is only capable of organizing itself through the self-interest of the Folk rather than self-interest of specific classes, groups, or outside forces.
- The "Dictatorship of the Volk", the Dictatorship of the Race, emerges in which the state unconditionally follows the interest of the Folk, taking into consideration other outside interests either infrequently or not at all, depending on the circumstances.
- Compare "the Dictatorship of the Proletariat", in which the supposed interests of the working class are uncompromisingly supported by the state in the construction of communism.
- As the Marxist supports the Dictatorship of the Class, we support the Dictatorship of the Folk; the whole people.
- The exact needs of the Folk differ most obviously from Folk to Folk due to cultural, religious and general racial differences.
- All DotVs share in common that it is simultaneously in the self-interest of the Folk (and thus the DotV) that the Folk remain unified, cohesive and their cultures and traditions preserved, and that their blood and culture remain pure.
- The "Dictatorship of the Volk", the Dictatorship of the Race, emerges in which the state unconditionally follows the interest of the Folk, taking into consideration other outside interests either infrequently or not at all, depending on the circumstances.
