Talk:National Libertarianism

Canada has two national Libertarian Parties

Unovayellow:Canada is probably the biggest home to this movement within libertarianism as both federal libertarian parties, the People's Party of Canada and the Libertarian Party of Canada are this to some extent

Unovayellow:There has been some confusion as to why the libertarian party of Canada is here, and that is for a good reason, these days they are national libertarian / alt libertarians with some anarch-capitalist elements, no longer a normal libertarian party. They supported ending most immigration, have taken to nationalist and alt right rhetoric, many of their recent star candidates have been alt right and alt lite, such as Lauren Southern and others, and finally, they offered Maxime Bernier Libertarian Party leadership, when he said no and formed his own party, the People's Party, they offered to merge with it without any changes to the People's Party platform, meaning they agree with the People's Party on all points to some extent, and even after the merger failed, most Libertarian still support the People's Party, and claim they would try to join again, many candidates even endorse Bernier. At the very least they are conservative libertarians, though I think the title of national libertarian is the right one for them as the whole Canadian Libertarian ideology has become taken over by national libertarianism and conservative libertarianism. They are also on an ideological level a better fit than Coolidge is for this ideology.
