State Shinto is an Authoritarian Unity ideology that believes that some of Shinto's teachings should be endorsed by the state like that the emperor should be worshiped as a divine being. State Shinto is very loyal, wise, and (acts) very religious.
History
History of Shintoism
Originally was created by the indiginous populations of what now is Japan known as the "Jomon" who often followed certain Pagan traditions and made pantheons that is known today as "Ko-Shinto" And eventually was syncretized to the Yayori people (who were immigrants from the Korean Region) Eventually due to reasons largely unknown, the Jomon died out and the Yayori inhabited the territories, with the remaining Jomon largely forming into other Indigenous groups such as the Ainu, and Emishi whose pantheons had eventually evolved into their own diverse animistic religious traditions. With the Yayori (who became what we now know as Japanese) eventually merging the paganistic pantheon with outside influences such as Buddhism and Chinese Folk Traditions into what would be known as modern Shintoism.
State Shinto
It started with the Kokugaku ("National Learning") movement which wanted to return to traditional Shinto by removing the Buddhist elements. The Great Promulgation Campaign did this (though mostly unsuccessfully) until it was picked up by the emperor. The divine origin of the emperor was taught in school and Shinto shrines were funded by the government. Shinto was being used for nationalist purposes so the Shinto priests were heavily restricted on what they could do. This system went on until 1945 where the USA made a decree that banned ideological use of Shinto by the state. The emperor also had to admit that he wasn't descended from the sun goddess Amaterasu.
Beliefs
State Shinto believes that some of the teachings of the Shinto religion should be enforced for the befit of the state. Some of these teachings like the emperor being descended of the Shinto sun goddess Amaterasu, Kami's, and shrines for worship. Shinto is mostly used for nationalistic purposes and the Japanese identity.
Personality and Behavior
State Shinto is very nationalistic and loves Japan with a burning passion. He will die for his country and is often seen around Showa Statism as either praising him or acting as a adviser. He is also very intelligent as he has read tons of Shinto scripture. He also acts very religious. He prays to the gods but the one he mostly worships is the emperor.
