Neosyndicalism - About the "Imperialism": The Donbass question was only brought up later in the war. The first speech by Putin only mentioned 1)Russians and Ukrainians being a single nation in his opinion and 2)That Ukraine is trying to join NATO, and only briefly mentioned the Donbass. As much as I oppose the second point and am critical of the first, neither are pretext for invasion. In fact, even if we take the bloodshed in the Donbass into account, expanding the war and telling your soldiers that they are going to exercises and will be greeted with hospitality was DEFINETELY far from the right decision. Before the war, Zelensky's campaign centered around ending the Donbass war via diplomacy and keeping Ukraine neutral, and he won the election in a landslide. Even if he didn't do what he promised, it shows that almost nobody in Ukraine wants to 1. Get out of neutrality and 2. End the Donbass war with even more fighting. Additionally, even if the invasion wasn't imperialist (like by your classification), it still managed to legitimise NATO, which is opposite of what Russia wanted. This invasion made more people support/like NATO, especially with how the modern age makes information spread like wildfire.

  The soldiers werent that clueless, they werent told there was going to be an outright invasion because duh national security but they werent told it was just an ordinary exercise, also hospitality was expected because the Russian leadership (as most people in novorossiya) expected all of Ukraine to be quite brotherly to Russia as they had been for the past 300 or so years. and this was certainly true in most of novorossia but not all, which caused problems sometimes.

  no that mostly Yanukovychs position which is why he got ousted by the CIA and west in the maidan revolution, by the end of Poroshenkos term he also began to be more tired of the war and seek some sort of ending which is why the election was needed and the fully puppet leader zelenskyy was installed by the west.
