History

The ideology of Chavismo was based on former Venezuelan president and ex-military Hugo Chávez, along with the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement-200, Fifth Republic Movement and the Great Patriotic Pole, in addition to influencing other movements and politicians of left and in Latin America.

As president of Venezuela, he changed the name of the Republica de Venezuela to República Bolivariana de Venezuela, also nationalized Venezuelan companies, an agrarian reform and adopted measures to move Venezuela away from Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination Neoliberalism. Even though he was praised for some measures such as the "Bolivarian Missions", reducing illiteracy and increasing the rights of women and indigenous people, but he was criticized for his authoritarianism, increased inflation, scarcity, poverty and violence, having helped the Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination FARC and Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destinationanti-Semitism.
