Rhodesian Nationalism is a form of nationalism in the republic of Rhodesia, an unrecognized state in Southern Africa (1965-1979).

History

Rhodesia was a former British colony in Southern Africa, which existed from 1965 to 1979.

Colonial Era: The territory that would become Rhodesia was initially inhabited by various indigenous peoples. In the late 19th century, the area was colonized by the British South Africa Company (BSAC), led by Cecil Rhodes. The BSAC obtained a royal charter in 1889, granting it control over the region. Formation of Southern Rhodesia: In 1923, Southern Rhodesia (present-day Zimbabwe) was granted self-governing status within the British Empire. It had a predominantly white settler population, and racial segregation policies were implemented, similar to those in South Africa (then governed by apartheid). Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland: In addition to Southern Rhodesia, there were two other territories under British control: Northern Rhodesia (present-day Zambia) and Nyasaland (present-day Malawi). These territories were not as heavily settled by Europeans and had larger African populations. Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland: In 1953, the British government merged Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia, and Nyasaland into the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. The federation was meant to promote economic development and stability in the region, but it faced challenges due to racial tensions and unequal treatment of Africans. Dissolution of the Federation: The federation was dissolved in 1963 due to growing African nationalist movements and opposition from African leaders who sought independence for their respective territories. Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI): On November 11, 1965, the white minority government of Southern Rhodesia, led by Prime Minister Ian Smith, made a Unilateral Declaration of Independence from Britain. This move was motivated by fears of majority rule and the British government's reluctance to grant independence without guarantees for minority rights. International Isolation: The UDI was not recognized by the international community, leading to economic sanctions imposed on Rhodesia by the United Nations and other countries. This isolation intensified over the years, contributing to economic difficulties and political instability. Rhodesian Bush War: Following the UDI, Rhodesia faced a prolonged guerrilla war waged by two African nationalist groups: the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU), led by Robert Mugabe, and the Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU), led by Joshua Nkomo. The conflict, known as the Rhodesian Bush War, lasted until 1979 and resulted in significant casualties and destruction. Transition to Majority Rule: In 1979, negotiations mediated by the British government led to the Lancaster House Agreement, which paved the way for majority rule in Rhodesia under a new constitution. Elections were held in 1980, and Robert Mugabe's ZANU-PF party won, leading to the establishment of the independent Republic of Zimbabwe.

Behavior

Rhodesian Nationalism is very patriotic of his home country, Rhodesia, which's land he used to farm, and wants it to come back. Though since his time, most white farmers have had their farms confiscated by Mugabeism, so most Rhodesian Nationalists consist of admirers who feel nostalgic of Rhodesia despite it being before their time. Either way, he loves singing patriotic Rhodesian songs.

How to Draw

Flag of Rhodesian Nationalism
  1. Draw a ball.
  2. Fill it green on the left and right ends, and white in the middle.
  3. Draw the Rhodesian coat of arms in the center.
  4. Add the eyes.
  5. You're done!

Relations

Friends

  • White Nationalism - The regiment lives on!
  • Apartheid - Best friend!
  • Salazarism - Helped me with during the war in Mozambique, allowed exports and imports, and a mission in Lisbon! R.I.P. Salazar.
  • Zionism - Good pal, you refused sanctions against me. Thanks for supporting me in the Bush War too.
  • Jacksonian Democracy - Literally just me but older, more racist and American. But slavery is too much.

Frenemies
