BoJoism is the ideology, doctrine and practice of former United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who was in charge of the country from 2019 until his resignation following the Chris Pincher scandal in 2022. He was succeeded by Liz Truss. Before serving as Prime Minister, Johnson had served as Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. During this time, he campaigned heavily for the British exit from the European Union, becoming the leading face of the Conservative party's "Leave" faction. Upon Cameron's resignation, Boris was set to become party leader until Michael Gove split the tory vote, leading to Theresa May taking charge. After a disastrous 2017 Snap election result that led to May resigning, Boris took charge in early 2019, the year of a general election, which he promptly won. Boris was infamous for his handling of the Coronavirus pandemic, and many Brits blame him for his inaction during the early months of the outbreak.
