Gallowayism is the economically left, nationalist and socially right-wing ideology of George Galloway, a Member of Parliament for Workers Party GB (Workers Party of Great Britain) since his victory in the Rochdale by-election on 29th February 2024.
Economically, Gallowayism believes in socialism but unlike quite a few other socialists, Gallowayism takes a much more nationalistic and conservative approach to foreign and social policy respectively, being a vocal critic of trans people and being the founder of the anti-Scottish independence coalition "All for Unity".

Galloway can also be contrasted with other socialists with his sympathies for right-wing populist figures like Nigel Farage (in the 2019 European Parliament election) and his moderately pro-Putinist stance where he stated the Russian invasion was caused by "pumping Ukraine full of NATO weapons".

Formation of the Party

The Workers Party of Great Britain was founded by Galloway in response to the Labour Party's landslide defeat at the 2019 United Kingdom general election and the resignation of Jeremy Corbyn as the party's leader. It stated its aim to "defend the achievements of the USSR, China, Cuba, etc." They also stated that they are "unequivocally committed to class politics". The foundation of the Workers Party of Britain was welcomed by other British left-wing parties such as the controversial CPGB-ML and Joti Brar, a vice-chair of the CPGB-ML, was elected as the Workers Party of Britain's deputy leader at its founding congress.
