The New Left is a movement that originated in the 1960s by many Marxist intellectuals in the Frankfurt School, such as Herbert Marcuse. The New Left supported many ideas such as feminism, the "civil rights" movement, the original LGB movement and the legalization of drugs. The New Left grew in popularity due to the then young Boomer generation feeling they were restricted by the then conservative society back then in the USA and other Western nations.
While the New Left was created to challenge the status quo, the New Left eventually grew to become the status quo after the end of the cold war. This was propelled by major corporations and fashion companies, as they exploited the hedonistic and anti-traditionalist elements of the New Left to gain profit from the young Boomer generation.
Personality
The New Left is portrayed to be very rebellious and unruly. The New Left can usually be seen at left-wing political protests protesting whatever was "cool" or addicted to drugs.
