Beliefs
Civic Nationalism is a ideology which believes that the nation and state are inherently synonymous, and that the nation cannot exist without the state, as only membership of the state (via citizenship) defines national membership. It places special importance on traditional liberal values such as freedom, tolerance, equality, and individual rights; while completely rejecting forms of nationalism that includes immutable characteristics in its definition.
Definition of the Nation
Civic Nationalism holds that, anyone who is a member of the state through acquiring citizenship, is automatically also party of the nation, this makes it unique, as the only form of Nationalism that views the state as a prerequisite for the nation to exist in the first place, viewing both nation and state as synonymous.
The ideology usually also requires of its citizen to accept the values of the state, which are usually liberal in nature, and accept the state's legitimacy as well as authority in order to be viewed as a full part of the nation.
Personality and Behavior
Civic Nationalism is hated by most other nationalists, who constantly make fun of him and call him a cuck. Civic Nationalism counters that by believing that other Nationalists do more harm than good to the nation and that they are bigoted. They can sometimes get along, but Civic Nationalism much prefers to be around fellow liberal ideologies instead of other Nationalists due to this hostility.
He is usually hypocritical since he likes to use different national definitions when looking outside of his own country and at oppressed nations.
Civic Nationalism also drinks many gallons of soy every day.
