Thompsonian Anarchism entails a market economy in which the means of production are held in common. This is because it believes that for a truly free and individualist market, the market must be open to and run by individuals as opposed to corporate oligarchs and capital holders. It holds thoughts on property similar to that of many market anarchists including property through use and individual means of protection. In order to own property, one must labor unto it to get the fruit, he is held exclusively to the sweat of his brow. He is also expected to hold his own means of protecting his property, if a man cannot physically stop another from infringing on his right to property then he does not hold this right. Thompsonian Anarchism also posits that (because of its individualism and value of consent) the state is illegitimate and it is the duty of every individual to negate the state through passive and violent means. The "property" of the state is illegitimate and must be taken by force, while simply living outside of its jurisdiction works as passive resistance. Libertarian Anarchism also shares the Rothbardian definition of the state as a Monopoly on Violence and hence opposes all monopolies including those of capital.
